Te Amo Mucho

It’s not everyday that I can take a break from being a PR professional and be a guest at an event instead of the organiser.

So when it does happen, I really savor the moment.

Just beautiful
Just beautiful

And that’s exactly what happened when I attended the VIP preview and new collection launch of the country’s pioneer luxury floral boutique, Te Amo Floristeria.

Hosted by my friend, the stylish Yuki Tansengco, the mood was light and bubbly – as expected when you have a room full of flowers and a gaggle of girls sipping on champagne.

Blooms and bubbly: a heady combination

The program itself was fairly simple: pick out your choice cuts and then create your own bouquet.

Challenge accepted!
Challenge accepted!

Now, those who know me very well will know that such a seemingly simple task would be something I would find quite complicated – because unfortunately, there is no Martha Stewart-like bone in my body #truth

So gratefully, I accepted the assistance of Melchor, one of the brand’s expert florists, and with his help I put together a beautiful bouquet inspired by one of my all-time favourite novels: The Secret Garden.

From him I learned that the first thing you need to do is pick the greens for the base, after which you choose your focal flowers, then your secondary flowers and lastly, your fillers.

The next step would be to cut them to size
The next step would be to cut them to size
Twist (I'd have to show this technique to you live) and tape them together
Do a little twist and tape them together
Gently wrap the bouquet in paper and freshen it up with a little water
Then gently wrap the bouquet in paper and freshen it up with a little water
Thank you, Melchor!
And voila! All done. Thank you, Melchor 🙂

I also got to check out their premium preserved blooms – blossoms cut at the highest of their quality and then preserved with a non-toxic moisturizer that leaves the petals as wonderfully pristine as they were before harvest.

All in all, it was an afternoon well spent and I’m so happy I was able to drop by and spend time with these ladies

Smilestones by Chibi Momo

There’s even more cuteness going on these days at Chibi Momo, easily the chicest baby and children’s boutique in town.

They recently launched what they call Smilestones by Chibi Momo – fanciful cards to help you celebrate the many happy milestones of your little tots.

Isn’t that clever?

I myself don’t have children (yet 🙂 ) but I do have a lot of godchildren, nieces and nephews, and I think these cards would make such unique presents for them. So now y’all know what you’re getting, haha!

There were other pretty things in the store that caught my eye though:

A Candy Wonderland Birthday Bash

With so much joy, Kevin Tan and his beautiful wife, Mitch See-Tan, marked the milestone first birthday of their darling daughter, Kathleena, with a magical candy wonderland celebration that turned out to be a very memorable evening for all who attended.

“Sweet as candy, very energetic, feminine, vibrant and bold. These are just some of the words that come to mind when we think of our daughter Kathleena.” said the very radiant Mitch See-Tan. And true enough, these charming characteristics of their bundle of joy were fully expressed in every detail of the party that the couple lovingly planned together with their families.

As they say, the success of an event lies in the attention given to the smallest of details, and Kevin and Mitch surely didn’t leave anything to chance. Every inch of the Manila Marriott Hotel’s Manila Ballroom was transformed into a visual treat with colourful balloons that dropped down from the ceiling and gorgeously arranged flowers that added just the right amount of girlishness to befit a party for a little princess. The program and activities were also thoughtfully planned to make it fun not just for the young ones but also for the young at heart.

“We wanted an event that would make everyone forget all their worries and enjoy themselves. We wanted our guests to feel like they were transported into another world” said the father of Kathleena and First Vice President and Division Head of Megaworld Commercial Division, Kevin Tan.

With this in mind, they entertained their guests with some acrobatic and balancing acts, fun games that involved parents and their children plus a magic show by the famous Lou Hilario to tickle their imagination.

But the highlight of the festive evening was a short but sweet video of Kathleena’s special moments with the people that love her the most in the world.

When asked how they want their daughter to feel when one day she looks back at her first birthday party and looks at all the photos and the video that they prepared, they replied in unison: “We want her to feel loved and we want her to know that we feel very blessed to have her in our life.”

It truly warms my heart to see how Kevin and Mitch have evolved into such amazing parents to this wonderful little baby girl who is so obviously the core of their universe.

Home-Style Cooking Goes Healthy and Gourmet

Each time I get to eat the cooking of Trish Panlilio of NawwTy’s Kitchen, I always consume more than I should and then tell myself that it’s well worth the calories. But I’m happy to say that a few weeks back I was able to enjoy something not just extremely delicious, but also very healthy.

The special dinner we enjoyed was a collaboration between Backyard Farms and NawwTy’s Kitchen, a special feast they prepared for special friends at an intimate dinner in Trish’s own home.

The purpose of the event was to present the pasture-raised, hormone-free and antibiotic-free chickens and bio-dynamic rice of Backyard Farms, a company founded by a friend of mine, Tisha Ang-Dominguez (now partnered with two other friends, Kaye Garcia and Jenny Yrasuegui), whose passion for produce began with a desire to know with certainty what goes into her family’s meals.

And what a delightful experience it was. Tables were styled according to an elegant and rustic theme reminiscent of summer, with lots of colourful and fresh flowers – the perfect backdrop for the hearty meals that awaited us.

Isn't this just so cute?
I love how Trish can turn the simplest things into something so special

We started off with some light starters; a Ceasar salad with parmesan crisps, roasted red peppers and olives, chicken liver bruschetta, and a butter log trio.

For our mains, they prepared coq au vin, mushroom asiago chicken, quinoa, red rice and tomato stuffed chicken, lime ginger baked sea bass, and a quinoa & tomato red rice.

Definitely a lot of chicken going on of course, haha! We didn’t mind though because everything tasted so different from each other and had NawwTy’s special touch.

We certainly didn't go home hungry :)
As you can see from this spread, we certainly didn’t go home hungry 🙂

Now as a PR professional I’ll tell you that aside from good food, what makes a party successful would be great company 🙂

To cap off the evening, we indulged in some honey crunch cake, cupcakes with cookies and cream and a light, strawberry and basil flan – of which I have no photos because we devoured them too fast. Sorry! 🙂

Anyway, it was a wonderfully decadent way to experience a healthy meal and I hope they invite me again to their next party (hint, hint!:P)

Celine

My Picks from the Gourmand Market

Yesterday I checked out the opening day of the latest installment of The Gourmand Market by nawwTy’s kitchen and before I tell you all about what I devoured and what I imbibed last night, first, I want to congratulate the amazing people behind everyone’s favourite marketplace- Dara Roa, Trish Panlilio and Dong Ronquillo.

Well done, guys!:)

I’ve always been a fan of The Gourmand Market and I’m so glad that we have this here in Manila. If you love food and discovering new things, then really, you shouldn’t miss out.

They’ve got 52 booths this time around, and even if the event will be ongoing till Sunday (tomorrow, March 6), it’s going to be quite the challenge to try them all. So make sure you really go around and pick out what truly tickles your fancy.

Meanwhile, here are my top picks from yesterday’s visit:

Part of the fun is the discovery of new things and I appreciate that they like to mix things up by inviting people with interesting new concepts. Case in point, look for the booth On a Roll and try their ‘rice meals you can eat with your fingers’. I enjoyed the fish curry and the sisig. I’m sure that made you curious 🙂

When you visit The Gourmand Market you already know that all diets are left at the door right? So if, like me, you only have Spam maybe once a year, then let it be this:

Spam your heart out

Spam rolls anyone? I'm not sure if this was at the market last year - I didn't see it then. And I also didn't catch the name last night which I suppose I should consider divine intervention. But doesn't that just look heavenly?

So that’s it for now guys. I do intend to make my way there again at some point today (and most likely, tomorrow) and I look forward to discovering new gastronomic gems.

Penshoppe Welcomes Lucky Blue Smith

International fashion brand, Penshoppe, very recently kicked off their latest collection and brand ambassador with a cool tropical splash at the Palace Pool Club, and what a fun kaleidoscopic shindig it turned out to be, setting the perfect tone for their delicious, retro-inspired pieces and on-trend tropical prints.

As a #PRGirl, I always enjoy (and admire) well thought out campaigns and brilliantly executed events.

Here I am getting dolled up for the event by my glam squad. No matter how busy we are, professional #PRGirls always make it a point to find time to look our best. I just think that how you present yourself to the world is a reflection of how you feel about yourself and that If you want to be respected, then you gotta look respectable (wow, I just sounded like my mom there)
Here I am getting dolled up for the event by my glam squad (hah! I’ve always wanted to say that 😛 ). But seriously, no matter how busy we are, professional #PRGirls always make it a point to find time to look our best. I just think that how you present yourself to the world is a reflection of how you feel about yourself and also that if you want to be respected, then you have to make an effort to look respectable (wow, I just sounded like my mom there)

And though Penshoppe’s party has been all over the blogosphere these last few days (the event even trended on Twitter!), I’d like to show you some of what went on behind the scenes and share a few details of the event that I think made it a huge success, from my perspective as a PR professional.

How cute is this? Seriously, table centrepieces are so important. It's a little touch that goes a very long way. In this case, I love that the branding is strong, but not in your face. Also, this obviously didn't cost an arm and a leg which just goes to show that creativity can work with any budget.

Event styling is really key when conceptualising a campaign party. No matter how big or small a fiesta you're planning, always think about the mood you want people to be in, the image you want it to project and the kind of energy you want to promote. A vision board can help streamline ideas, but make sure you stick to your budget. It's so easy to go overboard.

I love that Penshoppe opted to go with live music for their event. It certainly made things even more festive.

The best way to ensure the success of a campaign launch is to be prepared by knowing every single detail of what's going to happen. But it's also important to be relaxed and allow all the moving parts to flow. I was lucky enough to catch a few moments with Penshoppe's master marketer, Jeff Bascon and though I was completely exhausted at this point because I had just arrived from a working trip to Kuala Lumpur (I only had 5 hours of sleep!), I felt so revived by his energy and passion for his brand.

I myself couldn’t resist and have to admit, went a little overboard. But never mind, I just have to keep telling myself that a lot of the things I bought are going to be given away as Christmas gifts to my loved ones (I swear), and generosity IS the spirit of the season after all.

Love,
